BMS Seventh Graders Take on Scrooge

Through a small grant from BCEF’s Student Opportunity Fund (sponsored by the Rotary Club of Batesville), each BMS seventh grader was able to attend the Indiana Repertory Theatre’s adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” on November 16 for a slightly reduced rate. ┬áPrior to attending the theatre, the 165 students acted out the play in class. After seeing IRT’s version, the students compared and contrasted the two productions and wrote a four-paragraph essay summarizing their thoughts.

  • Teacher Lisa Barnett said, “Our trip to the IRT allowed the story to come to life. We are provided with a study guide prior to our attendance, and we used this to prepare for our visit.┬áThis is an experience of a lifetime. The production is always top-notch, and the students love it!”

BCEF would like to thank the Rotary Club for partnering with us to provide these types of opportunities to students at a discounted rate._dsc0256 _dsc0258
