A total of $5,000 was awarded by the Batesville Community Education Foundation in December of 2018 for these three grants:
BIS will be expanding its music curriculum to include learning the ukulele with a grant from BCEF. Thirty new ukuleles and accessories will be provided to help teacher Kari Kinsey enhance the 5th grade students’ musical experience.
Money toward the purchase of a new laser engraver/cutter is being granted to Craig Hughes at BHS for his engineering and technology students to use. Hughes has a plan in place to acquire the engraver in the near future.
After observing a virtual reality technology presentation at the BCSC school board meeting in November, BCEF is awarding a small grant to Kyle Laker and Elliott Tekulve in the BCSC IT department to purchase additional virtual reality equipment. This technology will be used by BMS and BHS students to bring learning to life.
BCEF awards small grants twice a year to classroom/school projects in addition to its larger corporation-wide grants from its annual campaign and other donations. Grants are awarded based on student impact, innovation and creativity, and project uniqueness.
