The BCEF board of directors is pleased to announce a new scholarship for graduating students beginning with the Class of 2026, funded by money raised by Batesville Intermediate School (BIS) students!
Earlier this year, Dana Cassidy, BIS principal, and Karen Kaiser, BIS Media Center, provided the BCEF board with information about the annual school-sponsored Chalk the Walk event (held in May each year), affiliated in the past with their Global Sustainability Goals. BIS students raise the money by obtaining financial pledges for the walk. In years past, the proceeds totaled several thousand dollars and were donated to a global cause. Since the Bulldog Ready initiative has launched, BIS would like to tie this event to that corporation-wide programming and pay it forward. The school will donate the annual net proceeds from this event to BCEF for a new Bulldog Ready Attribute Scholarship to be awarded to graduating BHS students.
While the criteria for this scholarship is yet to be determined, BIS administration and students will work with BCEF to develop the guidelines and have input on the scholarship winner. The seven Bulldog Ready attributes: confidence, integrity, authenticity, drive, empathy, resilience, and leadership, will play a major role in the scholarship selection results.
