Our 2024 project.

A new mental health wellness and academic center for students at Batesville High School

Thank you to Fanning Howey,
our Annual Campaign Sponsor,
for assisting with the development of this project by providing a conceptual plan/layout to Batesville High School.

Mental health concerns like anxiety, stress, burnout, and depression are increasing among teens in every demographic nationwide, including at Batesville High School (BHS).

Did you know?

On average, 33% of BHS students over the past few years have reported feeling hopeless for two weeks at a time. That’s more than 200 Batesville Bulldogs each year.

Learning is difficult when life seems hard. Academics often suffer, right along with the student. BHS plans to move its current counseling area to a more private location in the school so that students can more easily ask for the help they need to cope with these issues.

BCEF’s Annual Campaign will support a new student wellness center that will feature academic counseling and support services, a stress management and resilience training lab (including a heart rate biofeedback program), dedicated resources and techniques for managing anxiety, a peer support and community area, and, if funds allow, a private outdoor seating area, for a literal breath of fresh air to calm nerves.

We know they need to grow up. That’s what they are trying to do.

Even though technology has dramatically changed their childhoods, one thing hasn’t changed. They still need support and encouragement to grow into great adults. This new space will proactively provide ALL students with practical stress management skills and give those who are struggling a space to help them regroup, build resilience, and get back to class, so they can LEARN—because that’s what they are there to do. They need our help with their invisible struggles.

Help us help them get the support they need. Donate to our Annual Campaign using the form below through September 30. Let them know you see them.
